(she/her) EXA M.A., NBC-HWC

Experienced, Certified Integrative Health & Wellness Coach
Co-Founder, Ananda

My life and experience

I’m Melisa Oliva, co-owner of Ananda Gardens and an experienced, certified Integrative Health & Wellness Coach. As a Coach and Facilitator I support individuals and groups in cultivating sustainable well‑being through realistic, compassionate practices rooted in everyday life. My work is  grounded in lifestyle medicine, whole‑food plant‑based nutrition, and evidence‑based behavior change. I support individuals and groups in cultivating sustainable health and well‑being through practices that are realistic, compassionate, and rooted in everyday life.

I live and practice on Ananda Gardens, an organic working farm where the principles I coach — nourishment, movement, rest, connection, and care — are part of daily lived experience. This context deeply informs my work, whether I’m coaching individuals online or facilitating in‑person, farm‑based learning experiences.

Rather than focusing on quick fixes or wellness trends, I partner with clients and groups to explore how health and wellness are shaped by rhythms, environments, values, and systems — and how small, meaningful changes can create long‑term impact.

Accreditations and affiliations

I got my Integrative Health and Wellness Coaching Certification through Duke Integrative Health, and I am an accredited coach by the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaches. I got my Lifestyle Medicine Coaching Certification through the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, an organization that I am affiliated with. I am also a member of the Wellness Alliance and The UVM Osher Center for Integrative Health. My work is informed by these integrative, evidence‑based communities of practice.

I hold a Master’s degree (M.A.) in Expressive Arts Coaching, Consulting, and Education, which informs my experiential, reflective, and creative approach to wellness and learning. My work integrates embodiment, creativity, and inquiry as tools for insight and sustainable change.

I completed formal studies in Whole Food, Plant‑Based Nutrition through the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies, in partnership with eCornell, and I am a certified Food for Life Instructor through the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). I also studied culinary arts at the Latin American School of Culinary Arts, which informs my practical, culturally responsive approach to nourishment.

Professional Path

As part of my professional path, for the past 10 years I have co-created with my husband Patrick The Farmer: Ananda Gardens: Vermont’s Wellness Farm. A small scale organic, regenerative and sustainable farm, where I have developed community connections, communications, and all aspects related to developing a farm as a thriving project. Parallelly, I have worked for more than 6 years with global organizations like Noom and Better Up to offer organizational and corporate health and wellness coaching to individuals worldwide. Currently  I work as the Integrative Health and Wellness Coach for the UVM Employee Wellness Program at UVM Osher Center for Integrative health, where I have the honor and privilege of serving the employee population. Before my journey in the US, I had a thriving practice as a Yoga teacher and Reiki Practitioner. I also co-found with my life partner Patrick Sullivan, Yogart, a 200-hr Yoga Alliances Registered School where we trained Yoga Teachers in El Salvador and Peru.
